Kubica has created quite a puzzle and presented it in a unique manner. I, too, was jarred by the mature vocabulary voiced by the 19-year-old character Alex, but I think that was explained by the ending.

Didn't care for it.

Definitely a page turner, but not enough character development for me. Loved the setting, which I'm familiar with, having grown up in Michigan. Good for people looking for a fast-paced easy read.

Don't you cry was my first book of Mary Kubica's, and it disappointed me very much. I don't mean it was the twist that disappointed me, but I mean there were several other things that were hard for me to ignore. Firstly, the language was too fancy for Quinn and Alex, like I couldn't believe characters like Quinn and Alex would use such complicated words like Mrs. Kubica used. Secondly, Alex's part till the last third of the book was only descriptions of every single place he passes by, and it was annoyingly full of similes and metaphors (cold like ice, red as blood blah blah blah). Thirdly, HOW COULD BEN BREAK ANOTHER GIRL'S HEART FOR SOMETHING THAT SHE CAN'T CHANGE??? His girlfriend Priya is independent and that bugs him because he likes ''needy'' types, so instead of solving his problems with her he chooses an easier way (he replaces her). I'm not annoyed because he is jerk, but because his name is Ben, which is a name for a likable character. I would feel better if he was Owen, Frank or Harry. Anyways, the ending was very good and unpredictable, and I recommend it for mystery books lovers who don't find dumping your girlfriend for another girl a big deal.

I gave this one 3 stars - it's OK but I found it over-written - it seemed to me that the author wanted to make full use of her thesaurus so sprinkled words throughout in place of more commonly used words. It was awkward because at times she was writing the inner dialogue of a character, and I felt that character would never use the $10 word the author was putting into her head. As well some of the $10 words were misused which I found jarring.

The anticipated “twist” in this one is easy to predict and you can skim read many unnecessary and tedious paragraphs of inner dialogue. The ending is abrupt and unsatisfying. Gillian Flynn does this genre of misleading the reader so much better.

Started off a bit slow but with each chapter i read, i found myself becoming more and more hooked. It is an absolutely fantastic book with a great plot twist and is a great mystery!

I love Mary Kubica! There's always lots of twists to her books and it really keeps you guessing and I love that.

Not as good as her other book, found myself skimming thru some of the story as it wasn't getting anywhere. Then the ending just seemed too abrupt.

I REALLY enjoyed this book! TWISTS! Twists I did not predict! I kept telling myself, just one more chapter...ok, maybe two more, oh shoot....I need to read one more.... the need to keep reading is very compellingI I didn't ever want to put the book down... there weren't any places where I felt I could 'stop now' and read later! That's how I like my mysteries to be! Liked the way the story switched back and forth from the main characters...eventually revealing how things were really tied together! Definitely recommend if you like mystery/thrillers! I'm's happened...I want to read more by this author!

A dark, atmospheric thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat with its slow build up of tension. There are lots of twists that had me guessing who-dunnit right up to the very end.

This is my second book by this author and I am sure I will try a third one. If you like a good solid thriller, put this on your list.

DON’T YOU CRY are the lyrics from an old lullaby and are at the heart of the denouement of this satisfying psychological thriller. Two storylines are presented and told in the alternating points of view of two characters, Quinn and Alex, who are unknown to each other and live in separate settings. With plenty of dark twists and turns and clues sprinkled throughout the plot, this book kept me turning pages as I tried to guess how Quinn’s and Alex’s storylines were connected. The tale unfolds slowly while the suspense builds steadily until towards the end events and revelations happen rapidly. DON’T YOU CRY makes for an entertaining weekend/vacation read!

It was a little slow at the beginning but the book progresses and you have no clue what is going on. There is no way that you know who everyone is until the very end when the two stories that are unfolding come together. Great ending for the book - but no necessarily for all the characters.
