Ripley does a fine job of, on the one hand, closely aligning her writing style (language, pacing, and plot devices) to Mitchell's, and describing a world that is seamlessly Mitchell's, and on the other hand, developing the characters in ways that make perfect sense because of their new circumstances. (Not that Scarlett and Rhett don't both resist developing, tooth and claw!) I was delighted to read more of Scarlett's story and to watch her grow up at long last. An excellent sequel.

I gave this a shot, but the characters didn't feel like I thought they should. I think Mitchell's story probably should have been left to stand alone.
