A charming telling of the adventures of a young couple from New England -- he, of many talents; she, an artist -- to acquire, restore and settle in a 300 year old cottage in a small village near Lisbon. Delayed by bureaucracy and aided by a 'master mason' who disappears for days on end, the dream is finally realized -- only to run out of money, to be forced to sell, to start all over again. Some hilarious moments and delightful line drawings.
Like “Driving Over Lemons” (another good read in the Ibearian travel literature genre) this book was laugh out loud funny and entertaining).
It would be a good read for the cottage, beach, etc. Fun and easy.
