Slow-moving depiction of a modern day estate in Scotland, with remnants of clan loyalty and changes in individual commitment. There are some amusing moments but the focus on small village life doesn't result in hugely exciting stories. This isn't necessarily bad; it may be to your taste if you like small-town pace and stories (a pirate radio, a ne'er do well uncle, romances that spark then meander/die out, farming struggles, poaching, etc.) The scenery and the laird's house are beautiful.
Such a great series first three seasons, then really took a tumble downhill.
