Very tame slow moving movie --quite boring, except for the scenery

- How is this different?
- Well, it is Italian rain.
Mozart has an opera named La flûte enchantée - in English The Magic Flute. Only because Rose is pretty, will Mr Red Face stop flirting with Carloline, in fact he has talked to Carloline's mum to track her down in Italy? Let's call this The Magic Italian Castle.

Love this movie

Read the book first if you can. The movie is very close to the book but of course cannot show some of the inner monologue. I loved it and would watch it again.

Loved the acting, setting, and plot. Great themes, with a nice, slow flow throughout. I think the character that changed the most was the old Victorian-era lady.

I enjoyed the perspective shifts of each character, which all begins with Lotty's "out of the ordinary" idea about renting a castle in Italy, that is a stark contrast to the dreary wet London.
This is a delightful slow movie with a lot of subtleties, and human complexities. As the book readers have said, it's hard to fit everything into a movie. I didn't want the movie to end.

*Not for the Hollywood movie fans.

Excellent acting and engaging story line. A definite chick flick although the boys seemed to enjoy it as well. It didn't get two golden globe awards for nothing!

Could not get into story line. Was good to see Joan Plowright and Jim Broadbent. Too many dark scenes, poor lighting. Some nice flower gardens.

I hope you're not in the habit of seeing dead people, however distinguished - it's not in the best of taste!
