I enjoyed this movie... They know cinematography in Istanbul also... It was shot in their natural, homeland Setting with 'natural' acting. It was a simple movie reflecting insight into human characters, socialism, and economic conditions and their lifestyles in another country. It won some good 'Awards'; and is worth watching... Thx

This is a 2002 Turkish film directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan.
After watching 30 minutes, I can't stand this slow-paced storytelling any more.
Besides, there are so many useless scenes.
It's so boring.
The director doesn't seem to know how to tell his story in this fast-paced world.
I feel that I've wasted my 30 minues.

excellent depiction of personal and social alienation and the sociological differences between two related men.

A slow human drama involving mainly two male characters living in Instanbul. Both are originally from the poor countryside of Turkey with the older person now settled down, rather successfully, in the big city. The younger cousin came to live with the older person to seek employment in the bigger city. They are 'distant' in many ways and both are lonely despite their limited circle of family and friends. Director Ceylan did this film is his usual style - slow-paced, no background music, and little panning of the camera. If you are patient and open-minded in international cinema this will be a treat in one relaxed, quiet evening. If you want an action or comedy flick, avoid it.
