"This play, done in three acts, is loosely based on the life of Reverend Leslie Spracklin, a Methodist minister, who was hired during Prohibition to fight the forces of rumrunners. His frenetic campaign ended in tragedy as he killed Babe Trumble in a barroom only just down the street from the parsonage. Spracklin was tried for manslaughter, but was found 'not guilty'."
