National Geographic never fails to share fascinating insights into its subject matter. Masters of the Arctic Ice is no exception. In it, we follow first a team of scientists studying ringed seals, who show us surprising ways in which they use the ice and survive in their underwater realm. Next, we visually participate in another scientific team's search for knowledge on the narwhal whales. We get to see how they live under the water and ice, too. There is even information on polar bears, harp seals, walruses, belugas, and bowhead whales. And throughout, we learn about climate change and how global warming threatens all of these wonderful creatures. In addition to the Masters of the Arctic Ice program, the DVD contains an interesting 26-minute feature on orcas (killer whales) from 1997.
