I didn't find it slow at all! Better than the first one in the series. I fully recommend the audios. Listen to the books while driving and its very enjoyable.

If you like battle scenes, this is almost as good as Conqueror, the last book of the series and my favorite. The Lords of the Bow is my 2nd best :) Enjoy the series.

I too found Conn Iggulden’s ‘Lords of the Bow’ a little slower than book 1.It was however a very enjoyable read. Recommended by - Doctor-at-Bass! Taylor A.

Conn Iggulden’s ‘Lords of the Bow’ – Conqueror Series Book 2 was a very good book. If you are a lover of historical fiction this series is for you. While I found the pace a little slower than book 1, Genghis Khan’s battle for Yenking, chapters 22-24 left you on the edge of your seat, i.e., you cannot put the book down. Regretfully, there is only one copy of book 2 in the Conqueror Series available at the Library as of November 2014 and that has created a bottleneck for readers. Highly recommended series by Senior Doctor-at-Bass! D. A.

Half as good as Genghis, hence half the score. 5 of 10 stars
