Let The Baby Drive

Let The Baby Drive

Navigating The Road Of New Motherhood

This insightful, deeply poignant and often hilarious narrative about the first years of motherhood inspires new mothers to follow their baby's cues and trust their own instincts. In letting her baby drive, the author didn't hand over the keys, but she let him navigate while she steered--and got to know him. Empathy bred understanding, a kind of two-way mirror that allowed them to learn from eachother. This is not a "how-to" book but rather a "why-to" book that speaks to the human spirit about love, fear and letting go.

I would recommend this book. The first few chapters were great! However, I did find that in the middle it got repetitive and I tired of the authors attempt to find meaning in absolutely everything. It is a shame because the stories and lessons are really great! I wish there had just been a 'tougher' editor. As if this book had been shorter with some of the boring inner-monologes shortened, it would have garnered a much higher rating from me. The first few chapters were excellent and I enjoyed the last few a lot as well.

This book should be a MUST read for all first time Moms! Lu Hanessian validated all of my feelings of worry, helplessness and love for the first few months. FANTASTIC book!
