While this was a light read, it was a good one! I really liked the characters who were quirky, but good folks at heart. It didn't read like a romance novel or a thriller. There was a little suspense over stolen horses, but that was it. Just a light, clean, enjoyable read. I hope to read more of this author soon.

There is never a dull moment with the two most famous residents of fictional Salt Lick, Texas. If you like fun/funny moments in reading, the this book is for you. It has wit, colorful southern dialogue and a town filled with quirky characters you will grow to love and love reading about. It is light in mystery but filled with humor and many great reading enjoyment.

Did I just read a Harlequin Romance? Let me emphasize this is no more than beach reading -- it's not a book, it's a parody of a book -- then I can say I enjoyed it, hence the "average" rating for a novel that's truly absurd. The perfect girl meets the perfect boy and they have perfect (but not graphic) sex, and live happily ever after, and meanwhile the women at the beauty salon/detective agency solve the mystery. Wouldn't you like to work at a beauty salon/detective agency? Every woman in this small town has a dream job, lovely horses, loyal friends, and a hot guy. When can I move there? The author reminds me of Janet Evanovich (without sex and violence), Carol Higgins Clark, and Meg Cabot.
