It sounded so simple. All Rose had to do was marry Nikolai de Montez to secure the throne of Alp de Montez. For the sake of appearances, they would remain together for about a month. Then Nick would return to his law firm to practice international law and Rose would stay to help rule the country.

The only trouble was that there was a powerful contender for the throne. Rose’s sister, Julianna, and her husband, Jacques, made things difficult for Rose and Nick from the moment they stepped off the plane. Tempers flared. Rose and Nick were virtually imprisoned by Jacques’ henchmen in an austere room somewhere in the depths of the palace.

It certainly was an inauspicious beginning. Yet, in the cold darkness, Rose and Nick learned a lot about each other. They discovered that they could trust and depend upon each other in a world seemingly gone mad. When they are released, the fairy tale ending finally seems within their grasp. They have only to trust in the truth of love.
