Tia and Mike Baye never imagined they'd become spying, overprotective parents. But their sixteen-year-old son Adam has been unusually distant and aloof lately, and after the recent suicide of his classmate, Spencer Hill, they can't help but worry. They install a spy program on Adam's computer and within days they are jolted by a strange message to their son from an unknown correspondent: "Just stay quiet and all safe." Meanwhile, browsing through an online memorial for her son, Betsy Hill is struck by one photo in particular--it appears to have been taken on the night of Spencer's death--and he wasn't alone. She thinks it's Adam Baye standing just outside the camera's range, and when Adam goes missing, it soon becomes clear that something deep and sinister has infected their community. Uncovering the secrets and lies at the heart of Spencer's death may be the only thing that can help Betsy move on--and perhaps save Adam's life.

A brilliant suspense novel that shocks you to the end. The best read of H. Coben so far.

This is Coben at his best. Fast paced with plenty of action. It keeps you on the edge of your seat till (really) the last few pages. A real page turner that you cannot put down. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed the many different plots that were all overlapping to create a story so full of twists and turns. A very engaging read!

A bit contrived to bring so many intense situations together at one time, in one neighborhood (essentially) -- however, the issues examined are well worth it and the characters and their motivations were entirely believable. Timely and worth reading.

I have to confess that I don''t usually read this kind of novel, but when it was recommended to me so highly, I thought I should read it. And what a read! Twists of plot, engaging characters, and a break-neck speed all add up to one of the best books I have read in a while. The Baye family is shocked when one of their son''s friends is murdered and their son, Adam, is a suspect. What they find out is that they while they may be driving Adam to everything and checking out his parties, they don''t really know him that well at all. And what they don''t know about him is what could get him killed as well. Absolutely un-put-downable!

Fast-paced suspense/thriller that keeps the pages flying by. Easy enough for the likes of Harlan Coben, but for me, it is the ending of a story of this ilk that leaves a lasting impression on me and this story began its collapse with about 100 pages to go as the various parallel story lines began to connect. Too tidy for my tastes. Almost as if he got sick of the story and began forcing the issue.
