This is one of the cases where the movie and the book share a title and the bare minimum. It was okay but I would not recommend to anyone else to read. The differences were so wide and distracting that it took the essence away from the novel. The hobbies of the main three women remain similar (writing, sculpting, and playing the cello) but that is where similarity to a story we thought you knew ends. I just could not get into the author's jumbled way of expressing the story. Rarely do I say this but I prefer the movie.

Not a big Updike fan, but this at least is free from the stifling suburban male angst of the "Rabbit" books. Lots of detailed passages about sex, which aren't particularly sexy. Made into a really crappy movie with Jack Nicholson as the devil and Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Susan Sarandon as the witches. Followed by "The Widows of Eastwick."

The book is way better than movie which lacks all sophistication of the book.

The movie was much better. I found the plot and writing did not maintain my interest.
