This book is the first in the Danger Zone series for boys and girls age 11+. The main character Max Gordon is looking for his missing father. The story will take you into the wilderness of the Namibian desert. Merciless businessman Shaka Chang is behind a major ecological disaster. The character is facing many danger situations with his boarding-school friend Sayid. Max faces challenges such as flying a plane with a 15 year old girl as a pilot, or running through a desert with a bushman will keep reader at the edge of his/her seat. Swarms of monkeys, bad guys, poison arrows, extreme weather, and starvation are some of the challenges that Max must face. This book is fun, fast paced and full of surprises. I would recommend this book to reluctant readers. Reviewed by JP
