Brains versus brawn. Go back 30,000 years to the Ice Age in Europe when the Cro Magnon may have clashed with a completely different species of humans, the Neanderthals. The Neanderthals were stocky, powerful and able to tolerate intense pain, while their foes, the Cro-Magnons were a weaker, more fragile species, but with a superior brain capable of complex thought.

The known facts, the explanations, and the controversies about the end of the Neanderthals and their relations with early modern humans (Cro-Magnons) are slipped into a plausible hypothetical narrative about encounters between the two. Doesn't get overly technical nor overly imaginative. An edifying film.

The description is correct. This DVD explores differences and similarities of the modern human and our not-so-distant cousins the Neanderthals. The DVD explores several theories for why and how the Neanderthal species became extinct when Cro-Magnons became the more obviously dominant species. I found the movies to be very unbiased, showing all of the different sides of the theories while creating a very realistic dramatization of the likely events that took place between the species of man. A very educational DVD.
