Add a CommentI am a big Penny fan, but this is the first audio version I've had of her writing. As always, I loved the story, in addition the narration was excellent. I was impressed with the way the reader was able to indicate female characters speaking without making a fake-sounding exaggerated stereotype spectacle of himself. And, as I don't speak French, it was great to learn the correct pronunciation of everybody's name.
This may be the most interesting story so far - this is a seriously messed up family, all because of non-existent communication. I actually could see any one of them committing the murder. In addition to the murder story, we learn more about the Gamaches and I always enjoy that! Louise Penny's writing is very intricate and detailed; her characters are thoughtful and I enjoy that!
I find this series keeps my attention through plot as well as interesting information about Quebec and Canada as well as various topics of interest to the characters. I believe there are only 2 of these on CD.... a pity....
