Wow, that was boring.

Mostly, it was a bunch of guys grabbing Bella by the arm and arguing over her, and some ladies making blueberry muffins. I got the second book because I kind of wanted to see "what happens," but I should have paid attention to the reviews. NOTHING HAPPENS. And it doesn't happen really, really slowly. We sit through an international flight in what feels like real time; this is what serves as dramatic tension. Charlie has been reduced from "hapless worried Dad" to "hapless shouty peripheral Dad who can't be 'left alone' for some reason."

It would make a pretty cute 5-minute puppet show. Great costumes. The male puppets would need inflatable chests to puff up at each other every few seconds.

[edit] I take it back: there's a nice bit toward the middle where Jacob and Bella are putting together some motorbikes on the sly, and that's kind of sweet and entertaining. As soon as the Cullens show up, everything gets boring again. (Also, I'm giving the creepy relationships a bye because, well. It roots the books in reality. It makes it *very* hard to enjoy them as romances - if you knew Bella you'd be like, girl, get out, this is unhealthy and you're making everyone miserable - but it exerts the same sad fascination as real life bad relationships. Bella treats Jacob quite badly. :( )

Out of ten I give this book a 7 Just because when Bella is in a total state of depression about Edward leaving her you can feel the boredom and the side effects of depression and how she's coping and to be quite honest I hated those chapters for it. The pain in the words of those chapters you could feel it and to be quite honest I loved Jacob because through the words of the pages you could feel Bella's motivation to be happy around him and actually come out of that depression.

WHAT. HAVE. I. JUST. READ.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I am horrified. I don't think I've ever read a more twisted, UNHEALTHY relationship. This book is disturbing to the max.
Oh my god I can't even write about it, it's too horrible.

If people really feel this way over breakups, then I am giving you my sincerest condolences. I truly truly am sorry. I hope no one ever feels the way Bella does when Edward leaves her. I'm so sorry for you, truly. No one deserves that pain.

Stephenie, what happened to you as a child that gave you such unhealthy thoughts?

New Moon, the sequel to Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight, was pretty hard to get into. The book starts off very slow, and there’s really nothing interesting to keep you reading. Eventually some action occurs, and that’s basically all the action you get for the book. Once Edward leaves, you are left with only Bella and her whiny complaining for what seems like an endless number of pages. Then Jacob comes, and you learn to like him, because of his boyish attitude and nice personality. Bella continues to anger you once you realize how she just uses innocent Jacob, and the book becomes even more of a bore to read. After pages and pages of this, the second bit of action happens and Bella is off to save her ex-boyfriend who she is un-healthily obsessed with. They were broken up longer than they ever dated! I’m questioning why they were dating in the first place, because they have nothing in common. This book seems to have no plot what-so-ever, and I think Bella is not a good role model for young girls.

Edward leaves Bella.  She is devastated but finds comfort in her old friend Jacob Black, but Jacob Black wants to be more than just friends.  She also discovers that he is a werewolf.  And she learns about the ancient rivalry between vampires and werewolves. 2 Stars

Because of gifting and my friends, I currently own two separate copies of this book, one in a slightly better condition. However, I currently don't own any other books in the series, so whenever I am in a Twilight mood for vampires, I ca only read this one. But no matter which time, this book never ceases to propel me through it. I have always been on the side of Team Edward, so this sequel stirs up a lot of inner turmoil each time I read certain parts. But then again, I think that authors sometimes purposely write chapters to make readers dive deeper and express emotions, unlike in any other books. Heartfelt and sorrowful, this book will leave you hanging on to every hallucinated whisper, and until the very end.

This book was interesting. You got to see more of jacob and what he's like. The book got a bit boring, but still there was some drama which made it a bit more interesting. All in all it was a good book.

I could barely stand the first but I decided to be stupid and read this. I couldn't read it after her months and months of moping over Edward. I just almost threw the dumb book at the wall. Bella is just a step back in feminism in my opinion and please all you "Twi-hards" out there, don't hate me but this is my opinion. I think that Katniss is a stronger heroine and the Katniss/Gale/Peeta love triangle is way stronger than the Bella/Jacob/Edward one because Katniss could have been with anyone or without anyone but for Bella, we all know that from the get-go that only one dude has a chance...

In this book, Bella Swan is having a "horrifying" birthday party until she gets a paper cut. Then Jasper lunges for Bella, and in the process of trying to save Bella, Edward throws her across the room. Edward then forces himself to believe that his family is too dangerous to be near Bella, so he makes a heartbreaking decision to move away. The following months are filled with grief for Bella, as she thinks about the loss of Edward. Then, while she makes an effort to become close to her friends again, Bella hears Edward speak! Bella soon learns that whenever she is being reckless, her sub-consious memory brings back Edward's voice. While trying to put herself in danger, Bella meets up with her old friend, Jacob. Jacob and Bella hang out alot, until Jacob mysteriously changes in many different ways. While trying to find out the truth, Bella learns that Jacob has gone from a friendly pal, to serious man. But Bella can't lose Jacob like she lost Edward! Page after page, you'll learn about the troubles, the happy moments, and the many different changes Bella experiences in Stephenie Meyer's favored Twilight Saga: New Moon.

The book begins with seeing Bella become very comfortable with Edward and his family. Bella is given a birthday party and accidentally gets a paper cut. This leads to a tense moment when Jasper cannot contain himself and makes a leap for Bella. Edward is forced to protect her but ends up throwing her across the room, this makes it all to clear that keeping Bella close to the family puts her at risk. Edward begins to withdraw himself emotionally in order to leave her.

Naturally, Bella's grief is heartwrenching to read. Any girl who has felt the pain of lost or unrequited love will shed a few tears during this chapter. It is hard to get over being furious at Edward's behavior at the begining of the book, but this simply shows you how easy it is to get pulled into almost believing these characters are real.

Bella becomes seriously withdrawn from the world after his departure and considering their strange and magical relationship, this is to be expected. Bella begins to hear Edward's voice warning her when she puts herself in harm's way and in this way Bella begins to court danger to hear Edwards voice.

Jacob, becomes a very close friend of Bella's and helps her through her depression. His character takes the place of Edward and he becomes a major player in this story. He is also the complete opposite of Edward's sophisticated, wordly one. Jacob is lovable, akward, attractive (in a regular way) and warm-blooded. His story is one of interest and I don't believe any reader who has already read Twilight, will be surprised at the turn of events in which Jacob is involved.
