A large barn and the fields surrounding it are ablaze. When Bruno arrives at the scene, the smell of gasoline leaves no doubt - it was arson. Soon after, a Californian wine mogul arrives with plans to buy half the valley and create an industrial-scale wine-making operation. When a body turns up in a vat of wine, it's up to Bruno to use his skills, tact and local knowledge to find out the truth.

The second book in the Bruno, Chief of Police Investigation series. READ BOOK 3

If you love fine food, the “Continental” way of life, and are an unabashed oenophile, I highly recommend you try this series. For the rest of us, the sections devoted to wine making, wine tasting, and wine appreciation can get a little repetitive but don’t let that stop you. It’s still a fine story with a satisfying ending.

These books by Martin Walker, starring the gendarme Bruno, are a fun easy read with a bit of French flair to add to the mix.
