This is the story of Gorongosa, Mozambique -- the largest restoration program of a wildlife reserve. This most ambitious project attempts to replenish the few numbers of elephants and hippos, trucked 800 miles those from surplus reserves in South Africa. The goal is to restore the park to its former glory pre-15 year civil war, a war that decimated key populations of crucial animals and birds of this area.

A wonderful documentary of this new generation of wildlife conservation.

It was frightening to learn the effects of human's war upon the natural world, and their ecological consequences (since people killed some animals a lot, and others not so much, creating imbalances). Also, it filled one with hope when one saw the efforts to protect the park, it creatures, and to repopulate the most depleted of creatures, even if they sometimes failed.
