What a wonderful book to come across! This is not just a book of quilting patterns; it is a story about a type of quilt that helped people to escape the tyranny of a way of life that gave a few people dominion over many. Not just a pictograph, but also a banner of hope to those who saw these quilts slung over railings and doors. Never again will I see these quilt blocks in the same light, at a quilt show with the quilts hanging on the wall!
