The Maenadian reign of terror may be over, but Sookie Stackhouse and the townspeople of Bon Temps face a new calamity that makes the bacchanalian evils of Maryanne Forrester seem tame by comparison. Sookie desperately tries to locate her fiance, ending up in a netherworld of human and undead interlopers, among them the powerful Vampire King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington.

This season wasn't that good but that oh Sookie video in the features was too much.

I wouldn't consider myself and avid fan of the True Blood series, but it is enjoyable with a biting sense of humour. Season 2 wasn't very good IMHO, but Season 3 made up for it. Interestingly enough this was quite a bloody violent season, but hey, blood is in the title so you know what you are in for. Only for fans of the supernatural genre.

I really enjoyed season 1, but thought that season 2 was kind of a mess. I'm glad I gave season 3 a chance, but the extreme gore, graphic sex scenes, and bizarre plot twists were just too much for me when combined with the numerous distracting plot lines and random character development. This season was all over the place and ended with me just not caring very much about any of it, although I must say that I was impressed by the acting of new cast additions Denis O'Hare and James Frain.

Great Vampire Series!

The first two seasons of True Blood are tame in comparison to the third season. The main characters are joined by several new recurring characters including extremely evil vampires, werewolves and other assorted creatures. Sookie is searching for Bill and ends up getting in way more trouble than she bargained for. In fact, all of the main characters are put to the test in one way or another and that results in exciting, unpredictable, and sometimes violent events. True Blood is excellent entertainment with a touch of humor as well.

I do like this series, but it is losing a little steam for me. The amount of supernatural beings and types of supernatural beings is reaching a degree of near silliness ( i know i know its a FANTASY series. reality doesnt apply. but its just getting a bit much for my taste. ) Characters come and go without being fleshed out as well as they did in previous seasons. The acting and writing is still pretty strong. I have enjoyed the series, don't get me wrong, but I am sort of wondering how much it has left in the tank. Gore, sex and action are still the hallmarks of the series. I will watch the series to it's conclusion, and would recommend season 3 to anyone who watched the other two.

Following the creation of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) is a telepath and waitress at Merlotte's in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, owned by Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), a shapeshifter—though this secret is kept hidden. One night, Sookie meets Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old vampire who has returned to Bon Temps following the death of his last remaining relative. As she cannot hear his thoughts, she finds it easy to be in his company and, over the first season, the two become romantically involved.
