Add a CommentLoved this book and the way Jaycee has used it for healing herself and growing stronger. Her reflections on her memories and what she now knows as truth is encouraging and shows hope in a hopeless situation. Its a tough subject and may not be a good read for everyone, but if you can face the terrible facts, it is an encouraging book to see her triumph over her situation.
Great book to read although difficult to accept what happened to her and 18 years of it too.. Watching her interviewed made me read this book and I think it was well told and she is a remarkable individual. Certainly will think of her whenever I feel like I have had something bad happen to me. She is inspirational.
I give this book 4.5 stars. The language is simple, probably because Ms. Dugard was not able to get any formal education during her 18 years of captivity. But she tells her story straight-forward like and is brutally honest. This book would be excellent for young girls, I'd say 8th grade and up. I listened to the author reading her book and it was excellent to hear her story in her own voice! I highly recommend listening.
Very much agree with previous comments about how graphic her description of events that happened to her are.... It is extremely difficult to read. An eye opener to her life and the circumstances in which she came to write this account of her experiences. Not for an individual looking for sunshine and rainbows in their down time.
I thought this book was so sad! How could a human being be treated that way?!? I really wish this book was fake but yet its real. Cant believe what people do in this world.
I have only listened to parts of this while drifting off to sleep, (Hubby listens to audio books while I read in bed) definitely one that I must get back to someday. I just cannot imagine........wow.
A heartbreaking novel and Jaycee was so brave to tell her story to the world. It must have been so hard for her.
Very inspirational. Jaycee is a remarkable person.
A hard book to read but one that ends more positively than most accounts of a stolen life..
