Great story about a second grade Chinese-American boy who is can't speak at school because of anxiety. He's able to speak at home and on the bus. He deals with bullies, making new friends and an outbreak of chicken pox.

Alvin Ho is afraid of almost everything. He’s scared of girls, tunnels, the dark, and he’s especially afraid of school. However when Alvin is at home, he is transformed into the amazing Firecracker Man who can do almost anything. Ages 6-12.

A diversity-friendly, younger readalike for Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Anxious kids will find a lot to relate to in Alvin, and readers looking for something funny will enjoy it as well!

Totally cute. I loved the repetition in the text, and Alvin's many, many lists. I found myself reading parts of the story out-loud to my coworker because they were so silly. I also love how the author created a character who is Asian and doesn't white-wash him. There's enough references to the Asian things in Alvin's life without it being too heavy, or too trite. Really a perfect balance.

Alvin Ho! Great book. You will be laughing along with your kids. My 8 year olds love Alvin Ho. My husband loves Alvin Ho. We quote Alvin Ho! Funny funny :)

Diary of a Wimpy Kid move over for Alvin Ho. Second-grader Alvin is afraid of heights, spiders, and tornados. He loves superheroes, digging holes and his family. He carries around a PDK (personal disaster kit) including instructions for making friends and avoiding bears. Scaredy Squirrel fans will love it. I couldn't stop laughing.
