For the past thirteen years, the Jennings family has encountered ghosts and spirits. Nearing the haunting season of Halloween, Zack is back again trying to get help for seeing ghosts. This help comes in the disguise of three quirky and idiosyncratic aunts, in which Zack and his friends discover a heart-shaped lock. They have been haunted by the Ickleby ghosts for years now so they must redo the malevolent spells that they have cast to save their town from being brutalized and threatened by the Ickleby criminals. I loved how Grabenstein incorporated both the mysterious and scary side of the novel with the funny and quirky side. The story had me on my toes at all times and I enjoyed the comedic relief aspect intertwined with the mysterious ghost possessions.

Fourth in a series. It's Halloween and the Ickleby Ghosts are after Zack Jennings and his family - even his dog. Will Zack and his oddball aunts be able to foil their ghostly enemies? Reviewed by BPL staff MG.
