Drunkboat tells the story of a young teenager, Abe who manipulates the unsuspecting help of his alcoholic uncle to buy a boat from a con man named Mr. Fletcher when his mother Eileen is out of town. The story resonates with the struggle of Uncle Mort, making the story much deeper than a simple tale of a boy and his boat. Both the uncle and Abe come of age in the story.

No character development - who are these people? A little reworking and it could have been a Stephen King or Twilight Zoner. Left me feeling abused.

Great job by John Malkovich. A different take on growing up, film touches on the seamier side of life. Chicken scene should have been funnier. Nice seeing Dana Delaney on screen again. John Goodman was pretty good as a POS conman/salesman. Worth a watch.
