In 1947, when the maps of India and Pakistan were being drawn, an oversight ensured that the village of Paglapur didn't find a place in either of the countries. The village had the distinction of housing the largest mental asylum in the region and in the melee that ensued during partition, the asylum inmates broke loose, drove away the villagers and established their own republic in Paglapur. And that's how it stayed for the next 60 years! Now, decades after, a NASA scientist of Indian origin, Agastya and his beautiful girlfriend find themselves on the road to Paglapur. Agastya is working on a top secret project for creating a device to communicate with aliens. Will he turn the universe's spotlight on this forgotten village?

awful! with all the sweetness of its concepts, it's impossible to watch...

I am giving this film a poor rating not because I am joining the bandwagon of all those who critically and commercially panned the film but because the script had too much potential for it to be butchered by its director Shirish Kunder. A down on his luck scientist (played by Akshay Kumar) returns to India with failed dreams upon hearing of his father's failing health. His village of Paglapur (or Crazyland in English) has been forgotten by the government leaving its villagers to devise questionable means to fend for themselves but little do they know that they are sitting on a gold mine. Now, how just how couldn't Mr. Kunder make such a promising synopsis work? It's sad and don't even get me started on the songs and wouldn't even know Mr. Kunder is married to one of India's most celebrated choreographers...Farah Khan. The technological aspect of the film was also a big let down because if only they had used up-to-date technology & special effects it would have helped a great deal.

Got bad reviews but I thought it was a sweet concept.
