I watched "Mr. Selfridge" over 3 nights. Each night I became more hooked on the family and the employees of the department store. PBS had four seasons of the Masterpiece Theater production. I eagerly awaits seeing the additional DVD's!

From the opening theme and visuals to the end of each episode, I was hooked. The costumes, the sets, the story... all of it. Selfridge is a showman as well as a retailer. Learns some bitter lessons along the way too. Turn of the 20th century was quite a wild ride.

Always watch PBS/WNED on Sunday nights! Mr Selfridge will continue in January 2015 and it is good. Too bad that The Paradise had to be cancelled because of it, too much alike. Lawrence Hill's Book of Negroes will be CBC Wed nights starting January too.

Yes, it's a soap - but what a soap! And unlike Downton Abby, it's not full of itself.

Very much enjoyed Mr. Selfridge. Excellent Masterpiece Theater fare with top-notch acting, engaging storylines, and clever characters. It does take a little time to get rolling, but I invested the time and payoff is worth it. Even though how the brash American, Harry Selfridge makes his business venture take off on London's Oxford Street, was the most interesting aspect of this story to me, I did root for the characters, and their interpersonal relationships. The latter does cause the action to bog down a bit, but lends motivation to the characters and dramatic content. Looking forward to Series 2!

All I can say WOW!

If you love Downton Abby you will love
this one. Can't wait to get my hands on season 2.
How I missed this on PBS I don't know but I do love video and being able to run through a season at a time.

Wonderful Series, I hope there is a Sequel soon. Shows how a person that comes from very little growing up and starting at the bottom can rise to the best. Great Acting by all and fabulous costumes, hairstyles, and settings. Don't miss it.
