Chronicles the life and times of Enoch 'Nucky' Thompson, Atlantic City's undisputed czar at a time when Prohibition proved to be a major catalyst in the rise of organized crime in America. The momentum seemed to have slowed just a little bit, and I wasn't thrilled w/Nucky's new side squeeze "Billie", as I really like Kelly Macdonald (maybe I'm getting too involved in the storyline -- lol), but everything worked itself out. On to Season Four.

Overall, I didn't think this season was quite as good as past ones. However, I did enjoy seeing more development of the character of Richard. The only other thing I would say is that it would be nice if they had at least one or two characters that weren't totally despicable! After a while I get a little tired of everyone being pretty rotten at their core or flaming nuts!

Events are not kind to Nucky Thompson in the third season of Boardwalk Empire. Liquor is scarce and the bootlegging business is more competitive than ever. A New York mobster tries to take over Nucky's bootlegging connections and eventually control of Atlantic City. Nelson Van Alden is on the run and he and his wife and child settle in Cicero just outside of Chicago. To make a living Van Alden is trying to sell clothes irons with little success. Margaret Thompson is busy with her hospital charity work and she begins an affair with Nucky's right hand man Owen Sleater. Season three ends in a bloody showdown between Nucky's and Chalky's men versus New York mobster Gyp Rosetti and his crew as well as muscle from Mafia boss Joe Masseria.
