Watched this when I was younger, then came back to it in my older age. Moody, atmospheric and very unnerving ghost story that may linger with you. Found it a little depressing for a few days after seeing it the first time. Great commentary on the role of technology in creating greater interpersonal alienation and anomie in modern Japan. Perhaps allegorical commentary on the hikkikomori issue.

It's not one of the scariest movies of all time. This movie was just plan boring. It was all over the place.

Genuinely enjoyed this film. It really plays well to the J-horror strong suites of creating a sense of unease in the viewer. I'm sure I missed some of the plot in translation but it did a good job of building to a conclusion as well. There were some individual weak spots related to the motivation for character actions but over all definitely worth the watch.

Unique spooky-type (like Ringu) horror movie with an apocalyptic twist and existential musings. Worth watching!
