But soon he's two months behind on rent and is forced to take a job doing grunt work in the kitchen of The Swan, a restaurant that's seen much better days. With clever, confident and witty writing Simon Wroe’s novel sweeps the reader into the frenetic, raucous and risqué world of a restaurant kitchen. Here, a cast of eccentric, dysfunctional characters wreak havoc on each other and, occasionally, their customers. It’s a fast-paced, fun read but the liberal sprinkling of profanities and food-related atrocities may mean it’s not for everyone.
