Marcel was a monster of medium size with crotchety horns and googly eyes. He was lumpy and grumpy and suitably hairy. But Marcel had a problem ... he just wasnt scary. Marcel is not very good at being a monster. He doesn't seem to be able to scare anybody! But one day, Marcel discovers that his gruesomely-good cooking can give kids a real fright!

Imaginative tale.

I couldn't recommend this book more highly! The text rhymes and flows nicely and the story is really cute. The illustrations are also great as it uses a pencil drawn style that varies different page layouts to keep the book interesting and funny.

We were recommended this book by a librarian in the Castle Downs Branch and my 3.5 year old son adores it to the degree that he now wants to be Marcel next haloween. The book rhymes throughout, is funny and at times surprising. The main character is very adorable which made it an instant favourite in our household. My son is very picky with his books, so it was great to finally find a new one he wants to read more than once.
