The writing style is OK, if contrived.

My main objection is that the author neglected to fact-check. In the first chapter, a main character has hypothermia and fever simultaneously. Fever is HYPERthermia; the two conditions cannot affect a person at the same time.

Other facts are equally wrong. While I don't plan to learn much from Harlequin novels, I want the author to respect the reader's intelligence. This one doesn't, and I will not be reading this author again.

Some authors who do respect the reader include Suzanne Brockmann, ML Buchmann, Julie Walker (improbable events, but at least the facts are within reason). JM Madden treats PTSD and other military health issues with respect. She has even written a book about combat dogs. Kaylea Cross, Teresa Reasor and Tonya Burrows are others to try.
