Very nice film about the effects of a stroke on a young family.

Very good collaboration of Ireland and Germany. Not two cultures that I would have imagined together.

The cinematography of the country is a treat.

I'm a Maxine Peake fan & cannot find fault with anything she done. It's good from the point of view of living with a loved one that's come back from illness as a different person. Not that different from military personnel returning from a different world - the adjustment is horrendous to all concerned. The American research character was a bit confusing in purpose. I felt the actor portrayed the 'removed' scientist fairly well, a man with little emotional being, unable to connect or relate. WEll, until a certain point when he loosens up:). I liked the teenageer aspect, his struggle with a 'new dad' & abuse by so-called friends that had little understanding. Very teenager, what else can be said. Great film location, the lovely green isle & the dry-stane dyke fields delight the eye.

Disappointing movie as a whole! Cannot recommend it!
The husband character was well played! Otherwise, poor script and poor cinematography! Pretty bad for even the low-budget movie!

This film from Ireland, directed by Stephanie Green, showed promise initially. However, the character development lacked strength. In particular the male lead, an American scientist taking up temporary residence with the Irish family, was poorly played and portrayed. Still, it has some good moments.

Mostly predictable. Very little character development. A few good moments. Nice ending. Five seconds or so of a very cute meerkat.

I thought the acting was great and character portrayal done very well. A lot of issues for a struggling family and the brain injury aftermath was pretty accurate save for the continued use of power tools in which case the poor guy would likely be a double amputee!

This little indie explores the struggle of a family with a father who has been mentally damaged by a stroke. The family consents to allowing the psychologist to continue therapy living in the family home on the condition that he will be able to do research with camera and computer to record the progress of the therapy. The family is warned that the patient will plateau below the pre-stroke level so they will have to get used to a new, less able and less cognizant father. A very good portrait of the trials and tribulation of coping with loss, the anger of loss, and the acceptance of loss.

Somewhat predictable, but still enjoyable to watch. Good acting by the entire cast and beautiful Irish locations. The NYPL database claims that they don't have this title, but they do; their barcode number is 33333301801375 and a librarian should be able to look it up with that number.

Pretty good depiction of what it is like dealing with a family member that had a stroke. (They will never be the same again.)

Lyrics of one of the featured song was Big Bird In A Small Cage - Patrick Watson:

There was a house halfway round the world
And I was invited in for a small taste of gin

There was a hallway a thousand birds long
But the biggest one of all was in a cage too small

I asked the caretaker 'cuz he was their maker
He looked at me and laughed took another sip from his glass

He said 'Open up your ears and hearts
You put a big bird in a small cage and he'll sing you a song'

That we all love to sing along
To the sound of the bird that mourns

Vanetia: I've been giving you two months, Conor. Please will you come into the house?
Conor: House? No, I've got things to do.

Vanetia: got things to do? I've got things to do. I've got so much to fxyzing do!
Conor: Just stop shouting.

Mother-in-law: He is not a case study.
He's not a Guinea pig. He's your husband, and he's alive.
