Wow... Interstellar is a classic for me! It is sweeping and emotional. The film asks a lot of substantial questions about our place on earth.

Rating system should provide an option for quarter star as half star is still over estimated. I am sorry for saying that, but it's true.

One of the stupidest sci-fi to come out in a long time. It had some moments where you are tricked into thinking it might get better, but on the whole a totally ridiculous affair. I watched it to the end just for some very bad acting - oh we are going to feel g forces now, lets make faces! sort of thing. You need to suspend all your common sense to watch this gem. There are so many holes in this it could easily be voted the worst road in Ottawa if it were paved.

Hauntingly bleak sci-fi movie. Well thought out and very well researched. One is left to wonder are the 4th-dimension beings gods?

Sci-fi films have become increasingly thoughtful and scientifically plausible over the past decades--at least since Contact. Arrival, for instance, is a quantum improvement over the death-ray days of the 1950s and the cowboys-in-space Star Wars movies of the 1970s onward. (2001 was far ahead of its time; the shoot-'em-up, death-ray Ender's Game was retrograde.)
Interstellar is perhaps the most scientifically accurate of these latest entries, and intellectually expansive enough that you'll probably need more than one viewing to appreciate what's been accomplished here. Naturally, if you'd like to be entertained with non-stop action, Interstellar is not the movie for you.

Boring, boring, boring.

Matthew McConaughey plays a desperate ex-astronaut who leaves his children behind on a disintegrating earth while he goes in search of a planet they can escape to.

Bravo, Christopher Nolan, bravo. I'm beyond impressed with this. I put off seeing it because Matthew McConaughey fan personally, but I am a huge Nolan fan. The story is intricate, with delicate plotlines interwoven through the cast. The theory of relativity is a huge aspect of the plot, as well as space travel and viability of life on other planets. I'm a self-proclaimed space nerd and will be singing the praises of NASA for all time, if need-be. The approach to this film was highly scientific, but not so much so that the average person would have trouble following it. As strong as the science aspect is here, there is another aspect that I found incredibly surprising: love. And not the contrived "we're stuck on a vessel flying through space for the next few decades" plot (thankfully.) But the concept of love being so deeply ingrained in us that it has a profound effect on our major decisions in our lives.

The Earth’s air is becoming contaminated by virtue of a nitrogen-breathing organism called “blight”. Crops are being destroyed and the air is becoming unbreathable. Of course, there is now only one solution – find a new planet. As humans begin to search for a new place to call home, they attempt something called “Interstellar travel”. There is a wormhole in the solar system that can be used to reach the new planet. For those unfamiliar with wormholes, it is essentially a shortcut between two places in space time, which means that relatively far distances can be traveled more quickly. Overall, for those interested in science, this movie is a good watch.

well, there is no really science behind it, like with all of the fantasy sci-fi movies (incl Jurassic Park) - still worth watching

be aware - to my knowledge - string theory is almost dead, there is no proof that are more than 4 dimensions and of course you can't go through black hole without disorganizing yourself

I think screenplay was average, but director's work was awful
very impressed pictures from Earth and from other planets

From IMDb:

Doyle: You can't just think about your family. You have to think bigger than that.
Cooper: I'm thinking about my family and millions of other families.

Doyle: We have a mission.
Cooper: Our mission does not work if the people on Earth are dead by the time we pull it off.

Brand: You might have to decide between seeing your children again and the future of the human race.

Cooper: Once you're a parent, you're the ghost of your children's future.

Cooper: We've always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible. And we count these moments. These moments when we dare to aim higher, to break barriers, to reach for the stars, to make the unknown known. We count these moments as our proudest achievements. But we lost all that. Or perhaps we've just forgotten that we are still pioneers. And we've barely begun. And that our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us, because our destiny lies above us.
