Katie is a hot young chef dreaming about opening another great restaurant. But then everything goes wrong in her charmed life until a secret cache of magical fairy mushrooms gives Katie a second chance. But does young Katie really know what to do with all that eldritch power? Be careful what you wish for! Fans of O'Malley's earlier *Scott Pilgrim* series will find lots to enjoy in this fun book.

Seconds is one of the best graphic novels you will ever read. Bryan Lee O'Malley delivers on a witty story with a strong core message while your eyes are delighted by the fantastic illustrations and emotional colour.

Seconds is hilarious and made me for real laugh out loud, it's well written, well illustrated. All in all one of the best graphic novels I've read

Very juvenile fantasy story.

You won't regret reading it. You will probably enjoy it. Nothing special. There were some funny moments, but some trite ones as well. Meh: it was OK.

This graphic novel plays with the theme of seconds in a number of ways. Katie is working at one restaurant, but also trying to open a second one. Her food is so delicious, everyone wants seconds. She's casually seeing one guy, but still has feelings for her ex. She wants to fix a mistake that leaves a sweet co-worker hospitalized, and she gets a second chance with a magic mushroom. She wants to fix more than just that one mistake, even though she's only supposed to have one, so she goes back for seconds (and thirds and more). The house spirit, Lis, who gave her the first mushroom has to fight with Katie to battle a second spirit that Katie inadvertently invites into Lis' realm. Oh, and the restaurant where Katie made a name for herself in town as a hot chef is called "Seconds."

Highly recommend this super fast read. I know I'm interested in reading it a second time.

I love all the supernatural elements in this story. Katie is very funny and relatable. Scott Pilgrim fans should definitely read it!

I like how it starts in the beginning—two mysterious characters chatting in a room grabs my attention. The art is neat and cute. The story is mainly about a talented girl who has a big dream of opening a new restaurant, but her life doesn’t go very well. Occasionally, she gets a message from a mysterious girl that she will have a second chance if she follows the instructions. As Katie starts to use the second chance, she could not stop using it again and again. The desire of making things perfect grows inside Katie. It feels like Macbeth, who was controlled by his desire causing a tragedy in Shakespeare’s play. “What’s done is done” was once said by Katie. However, she is not satisfied until her house spirit loses her entire energy. Katie starts to realize the negative effects of using second chances. It is a happy ending that Katie realizes she should accept things she can’t change. I like how the story goes fluently at first and exciting near the end.

Seconds is full of the main character's existential problems. Through a twist of fate, Katie, owner of a restaurant, can now change her mistakes, which throws her into a world of mystery and confusion. Author and illustrator Bryan Lee O'Malley (of Scott Pilgrim fame) is back with a charming and relatable story, full of cuteness and sharp wit. At times, this graphic novel can get dark and question the ethics and nature of life. If you read this book, be prepared for a wild ride.

Loved reading this! Just finished the Scott Pilgrim series and wanted to check out some more of O'Malley's work. I absolutely loved his use of bold colours and sharp lines, his witty jokes, and the moral "there are things we can't change, and we just have to accept that. And maybe that's some kind of grace". Could not put this book down!
