Seven years ago, on the eve of her wedding, Lady Jessica Sheffield witnessed a scene so scandalous she could not erase it from her memory. Shocked, yet strangely titillated, she nevertheless walked down the aisle into a life serene yet unremarkable. But what she kept hidden fueled wildly imaginative and very illicit dreams. Alistair Caulfield ran far from the temptation of the prim debutante--all the way to the West Indies. As a successful merchant, he has little in common with the rakehell youth Jessica once knew. But when newly widowed Jessica steps aboard his ship for a transatlantic passage, seven years' worth of denied pleasures are held in check by nothing more than a few layers of silk--and the certainty that surrender will consume them both.

Just finished reading this book, borrowed from a co-worker. WOW!! I found myself sneaking off at work just to read one more page! Wonderful writing! Wonderful storyline. Awesome charachters! I fell in love with Alastair as well, and wanted to run a sword thru the belly of Regmont myself. Was glad that he "got his" so to speak. Can't wait to get to read all of her books I've yet to. Wonderful author! definitely 5 stars!!!

Sexy, raunchy, erotic... I loved it! I can see how this book inspired the Crossfire series. It sizzles like anything Ms. Day writes!

Good historical romance with a little erotica thrown in throughout the book. I thought it started out kind of slow & didn't really hold my interest until about halfway through the book.

For the two people who stated that the book is extremely explicit perhaps they missed the fact that she writes erotica and it states it's for mature adults on the book.

I agree with the other comment, that the book is extremely explicit (unnecessarily), but it is still a decent book.

Extremely Explicit! Let's leave it at that.
