"From Laura Prepon, star of Orange Is the New Black, and integrative nutritionist Elizabeth Troy comes an exciting 21-day plan combining the latest in food science with ancient dietary wisdom, to shed stubborn weight for good and achieve overall wellness. Despite her glowing on-screen presence as the star of That 70's Show and Orange Is the New Black, Laura Prepon has always struggled with weight issues, digestive issues, bloating, and low energy. After years of starving herself with crazy diets and punishing herself with tortuous workouts, Prepon met integrative nutritionist Elizabeth Troy, who combines Eastern holistic medicine and food science in her practice. Troy "unstuck" Prepon's malfunctioning organs and metabolism through targeted eating and stretching that finally allowed her to lose those stubborn pounds and thrive. Wanting to share this life-changing success, Prepon joined with Troy to create The Stash Plan, a 21-day plan and lifestyle guide that combines modern nutritional science with Chinese Meridian Theory (CMT) to detoxify the body and burn fat. In The Stash Plan, you'll learn what to cook and how to create a combinable "stash" of meals--proteins, carbs, and vegetables--and nutritional bone broths to eat throughout the week. With twice-weekly cooking sessions as the basis of the plan, Prepon and Troy will show you how to make healthy, budget-friendly meals that are easy and ideal for a busy, on-the-go lifestyle. The Stash Plan gives you the key to heal yourself from the inside out and start living the life you've always wanted"--

This is not your basic cook book, or even your basic diet book. This book is packed with information on the human body and how it is affected by not only the food we eat but also the lives we live.
I actually read this book in one day, almost in one sitting. What really struck me was the amount of information the function of the liver and gallbladder and how easily they can malfunction, ultimately leading to various health problems. All this information made me realize that I don't understand how the human body works at all, I thought the liver was limited to handling alcohol and that the gallbladder is supposed to make gallstones eventually. Understanding how these organs are supposed to function and the foods that help vs. hurt is the real value of this book for me. Knowing this information is the foundation to making smart food decisions for a lifetime.
As for the recipes and the stretches, I don't cook meat at home so I have to tweak all the protein recipes which is a little hard. But the mix and match concept of the recipes help make keep the stash plan exciting. The stretches are yoga poses, but are renamed to show the organ they directly benefit. I really appreciate that because while I have practiced yoga, I never understood how the poses worked with my body.
Again, the true value of this book is understanding how everything works with your body, and the only real control we have over our bodies is what we feed it.

Meh. Not a fan of this book. It's a pretty extreme 'diet', that I guess worked well enough for the author that she decided to write a book about it. It's mainly organic veg and meats, raw and cooked into broths. As the above reviewer said, good for singles or a couple. And, the 'stretches' are really versions of yoga poses! I'll stick to my healthy diet and yoga classes...

This is not a eating plan for someone with a limited grocery budget. The book says to buy everything organic. For (3) meals a day you eat a protein, a carbohydrate and a vegetable plus in between snacks. The exercise is referred to as "stash stretches". It all sounds great and makes perfect sense but it seems like a lot of work. The "Stash Plan" recipes per week are for a single person. I am curious to hear what others think of this book!!
