Parody of boy band members gone solo. And Justin Bieber definitely inspired a lot of the main character. There were a couple of hilarious scenes where I almost fell out of my chair laughing. The deleted/extended scenes are more of the same as the film.

Okay movie made me chuckle a few times. Tim Medows probably the best thing about this movie very funny. The extras on this DVD are pretty good. A lot of extras on this DVD.

I just can't get into this. Too many short scenes, Adam Sandberg looks and acts just like...Adam Sandberg. I don't see the character. Not here not there type of movie.

The Lonely Island is an American comedy trio, formed by Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg, and Jorma Taccone that gained notoriety by satirizing pop/rap videos & songs with their own blend of musical mayhem & pop culture insight. Popstar brings that satire to the big screen mirroring the mocumentary style of "This is Spinal Tap." I cannot imagine a time when people will quote this film verbatim, simply because nobody has the genius to say the word "dubly," there wasn't even a hint of a puppet show, & it doesn't go to eleven; "Popstar" will perhaps become a footnote in the epic genre defined by Tap. It's entertaining, slapstick, in your face humour that mocks the music industry & includes several music icons like Weird Al Yankovic, Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, P!nk, Seal, Snoop Dogg, Michael Bolton, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Usher, & many more.

A comedy which inspires more amusement than outright laughs but if you're any sort of fan of the rock-star bio-pic this will surely be in your wheelhouse. A couple of hours of mindless fun, I enjoyed this movie.

The film had some funny bits and the basic plot were fine, but the mockumentary style destroyed this film. The horrible editing and style made you feel nothing for the characters. Yes, it's a silly comedy but it didn't hold together like a real movie.

This film has little to offer. The actual film was more like a rapid slideshow. Excessive use of short scenes. Very distracting.

I like Andy Samberg in Brooklyn 99 but this is kind of a mess. I imagine that he was a huge fan of The Beastie Boys and this is somewhat of an homage to them. I was constantly about to hit the eject button but bravely saw it thru to the end. The biggest problem is that hip-hop is such an utterly horrible genre of music that not even making fun of it is entertaining. Only one of the songs was at all funny. And then there were around a million cameos of bad "musicians" doing or saying "wacky" things. It was painful.

I think they had good characters, concept, and plot, but making it a mocumentary didn't really make it work. I like Lonely Island, so the type of humor was just up my alley, but it wasn't executed well as a movie. I would say pass on the movie, and maybe watch the "Music Video's" on youtube or something as they are better than the actual movie. The best video's weren't even fully played out on the movie.
