A fun sequel that highlights one of the best, and underused, characters from the first book in the series, Greg's older brother, Rodrick. Anyone with an older brother will particularly empathize with Greg. Additionally, Kinney does a good job utilizing the other characters and expanding the "Diary" world (given that, as of this writing, there are twelve books in the series, he's clearly continuing to do a good job).

I guess Mom was pretty proud of herself for making me write in that journal last year, because now she went and bought me another one.
