*Lyrics excerpt* - Do you believe in magic in a young girl's heart?.... How music can free her, whenever it starts.... And it's magic, if the music is groovy..... It makes you feel happy like an old-time movie.... I'll tell you about the magic, and it'll free your soul.... But it's like trying to tell a stranger 'bout rock and roll."
Without a doubt (during that musically-radical era of the mid-1960's), American pop/folk rockers, The Lovin' Spoonful easily ranked right up there as being one of the real greats of their day.
Founded in NYC's Greenwich Village by singer/songwriter, John Sebastian, The Lovin' Spoonful's catchy melodies frequently dominated the radio airwaves from coast to coast, and beyond.
During that remarkable music explosion of the mid-1960's, no other American band could even come close to boasting more #1 hit songs on the record charts than could The Lovin' Spoonful, whose tunes were primarily penned by John Sebastian.
This "Best Of" CD contains 25 tracks in all which were recorded between the years of 1965-1968. 3 of my very favourite tunes in this first-rate compilation are - Younger Girl, Darling Be Home Soon, and Do You Believe In Magic (watch video).
