After getting shot in the line of duty, New Jersey state police officer Doug Brock has been busy rebuilding his life. He's reunited with his fiancée and started to get some of his memories back. He hopes he can continue to recover with the help of an amnesia support group and that the damage from his past isn't permanent. It isn't until fellow group member Sean Conner approaches him after a meeting that Doug realizes the trouble is just beginning. Sean has discovered in his attic what can only be called a scrapbook of a murder victim, but he has no recollection of the girl's identity or why he might have gathered this information. Doug agrees to help and convinces his captain to open what had been a cold case. When he discovers that he had a personal connection to this case, suddenly he's questioning everything he thought he knew about the case, about Sean, and about his own past.

This was a good solid read. I really enjoy Rosenfelt’s Andy Carpenter series which always includes dogs but this was new for me. I need to read the first in this series to find out how Doug Brock lost his memory.

I enjoyed reading about a policeman's recovery from an accident that wipe out most of his memory. He is helped by his girlfriend and his partner. Together they solve a series of crime that is interwoven with another crime. Good change of pace

I have enjoyed Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter series for the past several years. This is the 2nd in a new series starring cop Doug Brock. I found this a rather disappointing read. While the character has some of the wise alec attitude I admire in the Andy Carpenter series, I couldn't quite get to really like him. The story's premise has also been done many times before. I just hope the author hasn't given up on his Andy Carpenter series.
