This was marketed as a comedy. It's actually a hastily and poorly written drama with a couple of attempts at satire. It plays on racial stereotypes and bad history and ends up becoming the very thing that it attempts to critique. A low budget production with actors fairly unknown and meant to appease certain types of pliable viewers.

There was so much to like in this Spike Lee adaptation. On the other hand, I kind of wish it followed the book more so those who haven't read it don't understand where Lee took liberties, however, Stallworth does not seem to mind the variance. Sadly, this will not ever change or enlighten the minds of the population that yet oppose or recognize the vast difference in views. I had to search for the corrected version since listening to the book several months ago & now having viewed it. Yes, Lee turned it back on current events.

The Cornelius Bros. 1972 song used was a delight, one that never gets old. I kept searching John David Washington for similarities in looks, mannerisms to dad Denzel, that's going back many years of watching every Denzel film. Young JDW held his own, I hope this means he'll be seen more often. The entire cast was excellent, the cringe factor, name calling & beliefs were disturbing. Simultaneously reading Undaunted by Wickenden reminded me of the racial disparity and true character of Woodrow Wilson, his racist views hidden by the elite. What we learn at home can be good or very, very ugly.

A very good movie that, sadly,is still relevant today.

Spike Lee really got his jabs in on the current White House administration. Most of the movie was about Colorado's first black police officer, Ron Stallworth, but Spike spiked his movie with the thought of who would vote for a racist and the term, "America first." It was a masterful job by Spike Lee.

Not the same as other true life stories. Not much violence- just the hint or threat of violent undercurrent- Yet a very interesting perspective from a cops view.

I surprised how much I like this movie. The scene in bar when they started dancing was my favorite scene.

Directed by Spike Lee in 2018 based on the 2014 memoir by Ron Stallworth, this American docudrama follows the first African-American detective in the city's police department as he sets out to infiltrate and expose the local Ku Klux Klan chapter.
It turns out an incredible and outrageous spectacle, contemptuously to the crassness at the heart of the Trump regime.
The film appears both political and provocative in opening up discussion on timely subject matter following Charlottesville.
Donald Trump should view this movie over and over again, then think it over seriously. . . :-)

Interesting true story based on book by local Colorado author. However don't believe the "comedy" label on the spine, definitely a serious story, and the movie ends with real news footage of violence.

Other than the excessive use of the N-word, this story was interesting. Adam Driver was excellent.

Amazing story. I loved the very ending. Thanks for putting that in Spike!

Ron Stallworth: Hello, this is Ron Stallworth calling. Who am I speaking with?

David Duke: This is David Duke.

Ron Stallworth: The Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, *that* David Duke?

David Duke: The last time I checked. What can I do you for?

Ron Stallworth: Well, since you asked, I hate n***ers, I hate Jews. Spics and micks. Italians and chinks. But my mouth to God's ears, I really hate those black rats, and anyone else really that doesn't have pure white Aryan blood running through their veins!

David Duke: I'm happy to be talking to a true white American.

Ron Stallworth: God bless white America.
