When Lisa gets the sled Daddy made her for Christmas, she hopes he'll keep his promise to take her sledding. But when the time comes, Daddy's drinking - again. Though it's hard for Lisa to understand, Mommy explains that Daddy's sick, and that the true, kind Daddy is the one who loves you... With the help of Mommy and a wise neighbor, Lisa learns more about being hopeful, and about making not only Christmas but everyday good for herself.

This is the story of a girl named Lisa, whose holidays are ruined by her drunken father. I wonder the punishment some kid is oing to get when his drunk dad finds this book among the kid's things... Remember to blame your well-meaning but pushy teacher and librarian! (Way to go, ALA!)
