This movie about ancient China was boring. Hardly any of action scenes worth remembering. Past on this one.

Stunning in its power, intrigue, and beauty. Best portrayal of a warrior -- in close hand-to-hand fighting between known enemies -- who is honorable, intelligent, and enslaved. Powerful female actors and roles.

One of the most beautiful movies I can remember seeing, it is filmed in color but looks like an ink painting. The story of a body double seeking revenge for his master, while trying to find his own identity in a tumultuous political landscape.

It starts slow (but it is building up) and quickly escalates. Intense battle scenes with unexpected tactics.

Visually stunning and well acted, but the story seemed overly drawn out.

Beautifully choreographed with amazing visual effects but storyline could have been stronger.

Appears that Western critics*** universally laud Zhang Yimou's artistic period epic which also won Taiwan's Golden Horse Awards for best Director, Visual Effects, Art Direction and Makeup & Costume Design. However, I can understand why it failed to capture the other biggies as Best film (An Elephant Sitting Still,) Original Screenplay (Dying to Survive,) Adapted Screenplay (An Elephant Sitting Still.)

Note: The new weapon comes across as a tribute to the Hong Kong Umbrella Movement in 2014.

No place for women here. Qian, the male, origin of all things shall rule the world.

Without the real, there can be no "shadow." A principle no one's understood.
