When Emma moves to Willow Creek to help take care of her sister who is recovering from a car accident, she joins the local Renaissance Faire in order to spend time with her niece. This is where she meets Simon, an uptight school teacher who just happens to be in charge of all of the volunteers for the faire. In the classic hate to love trope, Emma and Simon begin to fall for each other while playing their faire personas: a bar wench and a rogue pirate. I enjoyed the Ren Faire setting which I thought was very clever. The scenes at the faire were fun to read and were very entertaining. I did find some of the relationship between Simon and Emma to be lacking in development. Where their flirting in character was fun and believable, their actual relationship wasn't as believable at times. I felt that their romance seemed a bit rushed and would have loved more character and relationship development. That said, overall I enjoyed this book and I am Iooking forward to the second installment.
